why I'm vegan
A collection of three editorial illustrations for the article written by Ștefania Gârțu for the digital platform noua.info.
The illustrations depict Ștefania’s personal experience and journey toward veganism, as well as her current advocacy for an ideology that recognizes non-human animals as agents and persons.
For the first illustration, I drew a scene from Stefania’s childhood, a moment around Christmas, when the awareness of the crime is weighed against social norms that accept the practice of turning the bodies of non-human animals into commodities.
The second illustration depicts the process of adopting a new plant-based diet and a consumer ethic that rejects products and practices that profit from the exploitation of non-human bodies.
The last illustration depicts a scene from a multispecies family, one in which anti-speciesism is the norm and kinship is not defined by the species of its members. It is a space where I would like to find myself in the future—a possibility toward which we are working, dreaming, and fighting together.
I have prepared these three illustrations in postcard format, printed on 280g textured paper, and they are available for purchase from the online bookstore below.
